+ Fifth Joyful Mystery of the Rosary: The Finding in the Temple

Begin with the Our Father.
Read each verse, then say the Hail Mary.
At the end of the decade, say the Glory Be.

Optionally, finish with the Fatima Prayer below.

1 Every year his parents used to go to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover. And when Jesus was twelve years old, they made the journey as usual.

2 When the days of the feast were over and they set off for home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents were not aware of this.

3 They then returned to Jerusalem to search for him. After three days they found him in the temple.

4 He was sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.

5 All who heard him were amazed at his intelligence and his answers.

6 When they saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him: “Son, why have you done this to us?”

7 Jesus said to them, “Why were you searching for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?”

8 Then he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and he was obedient to them.

9 His mother pondered all these things in her heart.

10 And Jesus increased in wisdom and in age and in grace with God and men.

Concluding prayers:

Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile show us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

V: Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.
R: That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

V: Let us pray.
R: O God, whose only begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal salvation. Grant, we beseech Thee, that while meditating on these mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, that we may both imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.
